CENTRE OF DIGITAL ECOSYSTEMS (CODE)
Identity Design
In 2024, RMIT launched CODE (Centre of Digital Ecosystems) to collaborate with industry, community, and policy partners in revolutionizing complex systems. The project emerged from the challenge of translating highly technical, multi-disciplinary systems thinking into an approachable, engaging visual language that resonates with both academic and creative communities.
Since the brand bridges sustainability and technology, the visual identity references native Australian gumnuts to symbolize growth, while its circular form mimics a camera lens to represent digital storytelling and innovation.
Backed by a natural yet digitally fluent color palette, the identity pairs the playful, gaming-inspired typeface Utendo with the technical, monospace Cascadia Code. This typographic hierarchy, supported by a cohesive icon and application system, reflects CODE’s unique intersection of creative digital media, game design, and technical expertise, ultimately transforming complex institutional strategy into a clear, connected, and contemporary brand experience.
